The National Alliance on Mental Illness had been in the southwest Georgia area to promote and help proclaim May being Mental Health Awareness Month. Georgia Pines had a part in the ceremonies in multiple counties along with other orginizations, such as The Yellow Elephant and Benchmark to name a few.
Statistics reveal that one in five adults experience a mental health disorder in a given year; for children and adolescents, the statistic is one in ten. Locally, Thomasville has several organizations working together to combat these numbers within our community.

To commemorate their effort, Mayor Greg Hobbs has signed a proclamation declaring the month of May as Mental Health Month.
